Modular Railing System: Assembled On Site, Not Welded

Swiss-engineered frames, factory-assembled, for a cleaner install and consistent finish

The Railing That’s Assembled, Not Welded

Why choosing a prefabricated modular railing system changes your project’s timeline, finish quality, and long-term maintenance

Modular railing system: Swiss engineering installed without on-site welding

What arrives on site is already resolved: posts, frames assembled in-factory, and a mechanical installation that doesn’t depend on a welder.

Jakob Rope Systems’ modular railing system arrives with frames pre-assembled at the factory under Jakob’s Swiss standards. On site, posts are installed first, then the modular frames are inserted. No welding, no specialized tools, no complex procedures. A clean, mechanical installation.

The advantage is direct. On-site welding is where variables creep in: an uneven finish, a timeline that stretches, a welded joint that needs rework later. Every weld made on site depends on that day’s conditions and who’s performing it, and the result gets decided on the job site, not in the design.

For the specifier, that means something concrete: visual quality and structural performance are already locked in at the factory, before the system ever reaches the site. That factory-level precision can’t be matched by hand-fitting at the edge of a slab.

One frame, two aesthetics, the same hardware

The aesthetic is chosen per project, without changing the engineering. The vertical cable option uses 3 mm (1/8″) cable: a clean line and near-total transparency. The Webnet mesh option uses a diamond-pattern weave in 1.5 mm (1/16″) cable, with 60 mm (2-3/8″) openings.

What matters for the spec: both options share the same mounting hardware and the same installation process, with equal structural performance and the same code compliance. You can decide the aesthetic without re-engineering the system.

Frames come in round or square profile, and all three combinations—round tube with Webnet, square tube with Webnet, and square tube with cables—use the same mounting hardware. The round profile gives a softer, lighter line; the square profile, more defined lines and a balanced proportion. The geometry changes, not the installation procedure.

Stairs and curves: where the modular system earns its name

Stairs and curved runs are usually where railings get complicated and site costs spike. Here, the modular design answers without welding.

On stairs, the system can follow the slope without breaking the railing’s line as it climbs. Both the Webnet and cable options meet the fall-protection requirements set by code.

On curved installations, the connectors follow the shape of the curve with smooth transitions, without stressing the structure or breaking the line. Over long runs, the railing reads as even and continuous.

The modular design carries an added maintenance advantage: if work is needed, you can address a single frame instead of the entire railing.

Three anchoring methods, combinable on the same project

Posts support top mount, with base plates anchored to horizontal surfaces—ideal for decks, rooftops, and structural platforms; face mount, with side brackets for slab edges and facades; and core-drilled mount, inserting the post into a drilled hole for a firm connection in exposed, high-load applications.

What matters is that these methods can be combined within the same project without the system losing consistency. A slab edge, a deck, and an existing wall can all be addressed on the same job with the same railing system. The system is completed with single handrail, or double handrail for stairs, compatible with all three frame profiles and compliant with accessibility requirements.

AISI 316 stainless steel and a finish of your choice

Every component is manufactured in marine-grade AISI 316 stainless steel: the foundation of the system’s durability against weather and demanding coastal environments. The standard frame measures 122 cm x 107 cm (48″ x 42″), and the system meets applicable building codes.

For projects that call for color, the system can be ordered with powder coating in the RAL Classic palette—including a black finish—without changing the installation procedure.

Specified and supplied with Swiss factory precision

Jakob USA specifies and supplies this system factory-assembled to each project’s exact requirements, with stock available ready to ship. The factory assembly reduces on-site variables, so the frames arrive site-ready and that standard carries through to the finished project without depending on field welding quality.

For the architect, the railing stops being a coordination risk and becomes a line item resolved from specification through delivery.

Have a stair, a curve, or a long run that’s hard to resolve?

Send us the geometry and the project conditions and we’ll give you a straightforward read: which frame configuration and which anchoring method make sense, and when a lighter cable railing is actually the better call. If the modular system is the right answer, we’ll help you specify it and get it supplied factory-assembled to your site.
