Stainless steel wire ropes and wire rope nets such as Webnet by Jakob Rope Systems are inspiring materials for breath-taking art installations. Walkable nets, minimal and elegant supporting structures made of steel ropes or complex rope statics for tensegrity and membranes: the impressive technical possibilities of stainless steel ropes offer manifold unexplored ways of expression.

A Partner for Artists and Galleries

Jakob Rope Systems welcomes bold ideas on how cables and cable nets can be used in new ways. Wire rope structures give artists real freedom to work with statics and tensile force — suspended forms, walkable nets, or transparent supporting structures for large-scale installations. In the US, Jakob’s cable systems shaped Ned Kahn’s Wind Roundabout in Fort Worth, Texas — alongside international projects including the In Orbit installation by Tomás Saraceno in Düsseldorf, a tensegrity structure at the Goodwood Festival in the UK, La Mantille in Paris, and a Webnet installation at the Wüstenrot headquarters in Salzburg.

Consulting from Concept to Installation

We support the creative process from first sketch to finished installation. Our engineers advise artists, museums and gallery owners at every stage of a project — from planning the overall structure, statics and assembly sequence, to producing mock-ups, custom fiber and wire ropes, rope nets and special parts. From dimensioning and detailed planning through to final assembly and long-term maintenance, we stay involved for the life of the piece.
