Habegger Cable Hoists
In 1951, Willi Habegger invented the manual wire rope hoist. Since then, the name Habegger has become synonymous with an extensive range of hoisting products. Today, Habegger manufactures wire rope hoists and offers products and services for the hoisting and lifting sector — fully merged into Jakob Rope Systems in 2021, following the 2016 acquisition.
Manual Hoists
The original HIT wire rope hoist was based on Willy Habegger’s invention and has been continuously improved since 1951. Every HIT hoist works on the same principle: a wire rope of any length is guided through two pairs of clamping jaws in a straight line, and moving the drive lever back and forth advances the wire smoothly, without slippage.
From the small and lightweight HIT-06, to the compact allrounder HIT-16, up to the HIT-32 powerhouse with a pulling force in excess of 3 tonnes, these manual hoists cover a full range of lifting and hauling applications.
Wire Ropes
Ropes made of steel wire are among the highest load-bearing elements in lifting and hoisting technology. Distributing load across numerous individual wires guarantees operational safety and high operating speeds, running quietly while maintaining a strong ratio between weight and carrying capacity.
Apart from wear and weather-dependent corrosion, wire ropes are not subject to any significant loss of strength, and their functionality is easy to monitor. Jakob Rope Systems has been producing wire ropes in its own facilities since 1953, and we help specify the correct rope for your application and operating conditions. We manufacture:
- Wire rope lifting gear — anchor slings, loops and chokers used to safely lift heavy loads.
- Stationary ropes — tensioned in fixed situations, used as guy ropes for towers and booms or guide ropes for lifts.
- Running ropes — take on the curvature of rollers, pulleys or drums in rotating applications, including lift, hoisting, crane, scraper and cableway haul ropes.
- Track ropes — function as wire rope “rails” in transportation systems such as cableways, cable cranes and cable scrapers.
